No-Nostalgia Retro Gaming --- How to Participate

There are two ways you can participating in the ongoing side series No-Nostalgia Retro Gaming: As a voter, as a nominator, or both! :D

Nominating games to appear on the show can be done by all Patreon supporters at the $8/mo tier or higher, while voting is open to ALL paying Patreon supporters, even as low as $1/mo! If you'd like to pledge support to the show and participate, head on over to Patreon and sign up as a paid supporter! https://www.patreon.com/kasick/membership

How to Participate as a Voter

  1. Sign up as a paid supporter on Patreon at any tier or with a custom pledge.

  2. When a new NNRG video goes live, a poll also goes live on Kris' Patreon page with selections for the next video; Simply go there and cast your vote! Polls for each upcoming NNRG video stay open for 96 hours.

  3. If you cancel your paid Patreon pledge you will no longer be able to place votes unless and until you start a new pledge later on.

How to Participate as a Nominator

  1. Sign up as a paid supporter on Patreon at the $8/mo Unique Nominator Tier or higher, or sign up with a custom pledge of at least $8/mo USD.

  2. Send a private message to Kris from your Patreon account with a list of one or more games you would like to nominate. ANY games, old or modern, are acceptable choices provided they are for the console/computer which is the current focus of the show, or is soon to be the current focus. (IE: If C64 games are the focus, only select C64 games.)

  3. Technically, each Nominator can only have one active nomination at a time, so make sure you order your nominations in the order you'd like them to appear in. If someone else nominates the same game but their nomination comes up and is voted onto the show sooner, yours is simply removed from your list.

  4. If two or more people have the same game actively nominated at the same time, you will see some weird things happen, such as voting pools with the same option multiple times and multiple Nominators being credited when a game is voted onto the show.

  5. You can change your nominations at any time, though if you have a game set to appear in the current voting your changes will be applied after the next NNRG video goes up.

  6. If you cancel your Patreon pledge or reduce it below $8/mo USD your nominations will no longer appear in the voting pool, but they will be stashed and reinstated if you resume an $8/mo or higher pledge in the future!

How NNRG Nominations are Selected

  1. Each Nominator is placed on a card in a deck. There is also a discard pile. When selecting games for the next round of voting, cards are pulled from the top of the deck to fill the four voting slots in order.

  2. Each Nominator pulled has the game at the top of their list of nominated games placed into the next round of voting.

  3. If the Nominator pulled no longer has games nominated, their card is removed from the deck entirely unless and until they nominate more games, at which point their card will be placed on top of the deck.

  4. When the deck is emptied the discard pile is shuffled and becomes the new deck to draw from.

  5. Once four games are in the voting pool all nominators pulled for that round will have their cards placed in the discard pile.

  6. A D4 die is rolled to determine which game slot, A, B, C, or D, will become the "mystery game" and will be hidden behind a "????" label.

  7. When the voting is over the winning game will appear in the next NNRG video. If two or more games share the same percentage of votes (not necessarily the same number of votes), a Tie Breaker is performed. The Tie Breaker will be a completely random selection (minus selections which will not break the tie) from the following possibilities: First Alphabetically, Most Vowels, Oldest Game, Highest Scrabble Score, Last Alphabetically, Youngest Game, Lowest Scrabble Score, Least Vowels. Note that the word "The" will be ignored when it's the first word in a game title, roman numerals will be treated as numbers, not letters, and punctuation of any kind is ignored entirely.
