"Escape from a strange, hostile world made entirely of digital data!"

Current Pre-Alpha Version: Not Available Yet

NOTICE: This game is no longer being worked on. Whether or not I return to it is anyone's guess and while I am not linking to these pages from my main website anymore, I'm leaving them up for historical sake. Just be aware that there will be no updates to this game anytime soon.

Ivxscape is not just another twin-stick shooter, it's also a real-time dungeon crawl! You take the role of an everyday person who's been unwillingly absorbed into a strange, digital world that's been starting to corrupt computer networks all over the planet! Travel through countless randomly generated sectors as you uncover equipment and resources to make yourself stronger and ultimately find a way to escape back to the real world!

At the moment, Ivxscape is still very early in development, as it has gone through two name changes and dozens of design revisions to end up with a simple, well balanced, yet highly customizable experience, but this is where all of you come into play! Pre-Alpha and Alpha versions will be free to download and try for yourselves so you can provide feedback as to which features you like, which features you don't, and what you want to see added into the game as development moves forwards. Once all the core features are implemented, the game will shift into its Private Beta phase, which is when all of the main content will be added. During the Private Beta, the Public Alpha will still be available to download and try out, plus once the game is complete, there will be a demo version released that will allow players to go through the first 10%~20% of the game!

Here is a list of features you can expect to see as development moves forwards. Some of these will make it into the pre-alpha and alpha versions, some won't appear until the beta phase:

  • Virtually unlimited numbers of fully destructible, randomly generated sectors to explore
  • 16 different VACs (Vector Assault Crafts) to pilot, each with its own special abilities and upgrades to unlock
  • Plenty of VAC programs to find which provide functions such as armour, weapons, shielding, and more
  • Various resources to collect and use in order to give your VACs special abilities, or to create extremely customizable weapons, like 3-way spread lasers which bounce off of walls
  • The ability to influence the random generation of each sector with special "glyphs", such as making the enemies in a sector slower, or making a certain kind of resource more prominent
  • Fully voiced computer system which helps you out with tutorial messages, though typically just complains about depleted shield levels :B
  • Standard, Elite and Hardcore game modes to satisfy every level of gaming intensity
  • Can either control the game with a mouse and keyboard, twin joysticks, a dual-axis gamepad, or even a Microsoft X-Box 360 controller
  • Roughly a dozen intense music tracks to keep you energized while blasting viruses or other VACs
  • Relatively low system requirements; should run on almost any modern system you throw at it!

Right now, the system requirements to run the game at 1920x1080 resolution with typical graphics settings and a full 60 FPS framerate are nothing more than a 1.0 GHz processor (single core), 256 MB of video RAM, and a mid-range graphics card which can handle v2.0 Pixel Shaders, which is pretty much all of them nowadays. 256 MB video RAM is also the MINIMUM amount of video RAM required. The game might run with less, but support will not be offered for problems which occur on such systems. Minimum supported graphics resolution is 640x480.

Feel free to download the current public alpha version (once it's available) to try it out, keeping in mind that there's no guarantee these public alphas will run properly. You may also want to check out the latest Development Journal to see some screenshots and to get some insight into the development process. If you have any questions, check out the FAQ first, and if you still have any questions, feel free to send them to ivxscape@pixelships.com!
