Filler Video #39

Windows 3.1 Games

NOTE: I am aware that the video quality is once again terrible. I expected the Blip system to convert an 800x600 stream to HD since it's larger than the 640x480 SD size but it didn't happen. I'm working to have this fixed ASAP.

Additional Information and Corrections:

  • Here's the link to the Windows 3.1 section at Download Central: http://www.download-central.ws/Win16/

  • Here's the link to the Windows 3.1 section at RGB Classic Games: http://www.classicdosgames.com/win16.html

  • And here's the link to the guide on the VOGONS forums to step you through getting Windows 3.1 working in DOSBox: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=9405

  • I find the best way to play Windows Solitaire is to turn off the game timer, set the card draw count to 1, and turn on Vegas scoring, as this will prevent you from cycling the deck once you reach the end so you need to be a little clever about how you move cards around and aren't guaranteed to win every game. (In fact, it becomes VERY hard to win...)

  • Some of the versions of Oil Baron you may come across will lack some of the features of later versions. You can tell if you're playing an older version or not by looking through the menus for the "War Room" option, which will quickly and easily configure all the game windows to look the way they do in this filler video.
