Additional Information and Corrections:

  • Yeah, I say "two fitty six" a few times. It's surprisingly difficult to say "two fifty six" multiple times in a row. :P


  • One ancient video card I didn't mention was the PGC, or Professional Graphics Controller, which offered 640x480 256 colour graphics long before Super VGA cards were produced... for several times the cost of a full computer system. Suffice to say, this graphics card was pretty much left untouched by gaming. Most applications to use this card were CAD programs and other commercial-level software.
