Alternatively, you can get the shareware version for free and see for yourself just how badly it plays from various DOS gaming sites like the RGB Classics website: http://www.classicdosgames.com/game/Skunny_Kart.html
One of the things I didn't mention was that many of the tracks have coins strewn about them which give you some extra points so that if you don't come in first place consistently you can still potentially win a set of five tracks (referred to as a "Cup"). Two of the pickups also affect the game clock, either scaling the timer back or pushing it forwards, which in turn will likely affect your standing at the end of a race.
The holes on some of the tracks are actually really nasty since they effectively stop you completely in your tracks for a moment. You can't completely crash out either like in Wacky Wheels, so the only way to lose extra lives is to get fifth or less at the end of a race (after time adjustments from the aforementioned pickups).
Copysoft is technically just a brand name and the actual company owning the brand was called "Edisys SCRL", however, said company often used "Copysoft" to indicate the rights holder and copyrights, so it's hard to know for certain if Copysoft was actually a separate branch of the company or just a brand name. :P
