Ancient DOS Games --- Episode 128

Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold

WARNING! The gameplay footage in this episode contains violent imagery. If you are under the age of 18, or if you find such content offensive, please do not watch this episode.

Additional Information and Corrections:

  • Here's the link to the GOG page you can get this game from. Note too that the pack I mentioned is sold on the right side of the page where it lists all the games that are a part of the pack: http://www.gog.com/game/blake_stone_aliens_of_gold

  • I kinda screwed up the DOSBox settings this week because it completely skipped my mind to test using the Dynamic core. If you set the core to dynamic mode, the game runs much more smoothly and high fixed cycles counts work properly. :P

  • One oddity about this game is that the elevators go up to Floor 10, but you don't ever have to go to Floor 10 to beat the game, since the boss and the mission goal is always on Floor 9. It also turns out that Floor 10 is NOT the same as the secret level each mission has, so that means there's technically 66 levels in this game! :O

  • Personally, I feel the sequel is the better game to this one for about a million reasons. I actually own a boxed copy of Planet Strike so we'll get to it eventually. ;)
