Additional Information and Corrections:

  • Part of the reason I'm being so hard on this game is because simulations are supposed to make you feel like you're actually in control of these great machines, yet ATF never manages to accomplish this; there's zero immersion factor with this thing.


  • To be fair, many of the textures look just fine from a distance, but as you close in you'll find the detail doesn't improve and the lack of proper perspective correction makes them look even worse.


  • Let me clarify the landing mechanics a little: You can perform proper landings in this game just fine, but the flight model allows landings to be done so poorly it's difficult to learn how to do them properly. Also to clarify the vertical landings with the aircraft which can do it, you do still need to run the thrust up during the final moments of touchdown, but if you switch to vertical thrust without cutting the throttle down to almost nothing, you'll never get the process started properly. :P
