Ancient DOS Games --- Episode 120

Worms

Additional Information and Corrections:

  • By some freak coincidence, everything from Team 17 went on sale for 60% off for the weekend of this episode! In any case, even if you miss this sale, you can pick up the Worms United pack from GOG by clicking your way here: http://www.gog.com/game/worms_united

  • If you want to try out the custom level I made, simply click on the following link to download wormsadglevel.zip, then unzip the contents into the "DATA\CUSTOM" folder located in the same place you installed Worms to. Then, when starting a new game, hit spacebar to put in your own level seed during landscape generation and simply type in "ADG" and hit enter! Ironically, typing this in as a level seed without the custom map in place will generate a "Hell" landscape. :P

  • It's kinda crazy how well the CD-Audio-based theme song fits that 3D-animated introductory video, considering you don't normally hear the two together. ;)

  • Dunno why I accidentally called it the "Microsoft" Sound System. I even have it as "Windows" Sound System in the game stats, which is what it's supposed to be. *shrugs*

  • One thing I didn't mention about the game in the review is that there's actually a multitude of different sound sets you can set for each worm team so that they can say different things or so that their equipment sounds different when they use it, which while pointless, is a neat feature all the same. ;)
