Ancient DOS Games --- Episode 115

Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri

Additional Information and Corrections:

  • As of mid 2015, this game is now available on GOG! Click your way here to get it: http://www.gog.com/game/terra_nova_strike_force_centauri

  • Here’s a good site to find more information and fan-related stuff for this game, as well as BOTH demo versions: http://www.ttlg.com/tnova/

  • Yes, the same voice actress who played SHODAN (Terri Brosius) also does the voice effects for your suit functions. ;)

  • One thing that kinda confuses me when I stop and think about it is how a HELMET has MFDs and clickable interfaces... How would the operator utilize or even see those things? In fact, there’s a massive graphical disconnect between the insides of the helmets and the actual exterior designs of them. However, because of how awesome the game is it’s one of those things I don’t think a lot of people really notice or care about. ^_^;

  • One of the more interesting weapons I failed to mention are the Smoke Grenades, which can be used to generate massive clouds of smoke to block the effects of lasers. They have their uses early in the game but are almost useless later on and hard to effectively use in the first place.

  • Just like System Shock, you’ll probably have to reverse the stereo effects for the audio. However, the cutscenes fail to take this setting into account since, again, just like System Shock, you can’t adjust the options until you’re actually playing the game and the settings are saved with save games, not generally for all players. :P
