I've been sick the past few days. Just mildly, but it may've affected my performance ever so slightly. ^_^;
Something I find funny is that there were more requests for this game than there were correct guesses. ;D
There's actually a bit more graphic violence in this game than I've shown, I was just careful about how much got shown. In contrast, believe it or not, the ESRB rating of the game when you look it up on Steam is E for everyone, despite this.
The location I picked in Canada for my base is not where I actually live and was actually a really stupid place to put a base. Your bases should go somewhere that can cover a large portion of a country or several countries in order to help protect them and keep your funding high from them.
One thing I also didn't realize while capturing game footage is that your aircraft can actually detect UFOs, so sometimes it's a good idea to use them to scout around to various locations that are otherwise outside of the effective scanning range of your base. You also don't want to start building new bases until you really have the money to support a new one.
One of the interesting things to pop up a few years ago was OpenXcom, which is an open-source clone of the original game but with bugs squashed, code portability, and modding capabilities. You can download it simply enough from openxcom.org, but keep in mind you still need a legit copy of the game in order to load in all the data files.
